Best 8 player Board Games – Buying Guide

Many of these games will have an overarching theme to them and you may want to find a game that is suited to your interests such as the spy games we’ve looked at or perhaps you want a werewolf themed game. Other games such as Telestrations don’t have a theme as such and are just a lot of fun.

Number of players

Will you always be playing with exactly 8 players or will it sometimes be a little more or a little less? All of the games we’ve looked at here are perfect for 8 players but some can be played by 10 or more. If you’re not entirely sure how many will be playing then it’s a good idea to get a board game with a wider player range.

Difficulty level

The likes of adventure and fantasy board games often can’t be played with 8 or more players as they are incredibly complex and gameplay would be too slow with that many players.

Most of these games here are relatively simple with rules that are easy to follow. This makes them great for large groups as you can include players of all ages and skill levels.

Age range

A lot of 8 player games are quite family friendly. As we mentioned previously, they are often fairly simple but also have fun themes throughout them. That being said, some are designed for a more adult crowd such as Telestrations After Dark.

Before getting your game it’s a good idea to know exactly who is going to be playing it.

Game length

With 8 players the fear is that people would be frozen out and quickly become bored. If that may be an issue for your group then a shorter game length or full involvement could be key. The likes of Telestrations keeps everyone involved so you don’t have to worry about game length.

Other games such as Tsuro kicks people out of the game but it only lasts for 15 minutes so they won’t be waiting long.
